The Perfect Twilight
It was a Sunday in October, when I left for the Oropa Sanctuary, driven by the burning desire to visit this sacred place punctuated by mountains. The silent snow in my eyes but whispered a call from the peaks , waiting to meet me. It was dusk when i finally entered the Sanctuary in the Dark and the background noise that chatter of many visitors disappeared. Darkness announced the Silence and lit ornamental lights of the evening. I left behind the silver Vision of the Upper Sanctuary of power that vibrates the Monte Oropa assumes in the Darkness, to follow a path. Instinct was guiding me towards that path in the Woods …….
I proceeded in Silence in the Forest of Beech listening to Elemental Life awake, watching the shadows of the Demons take shape in the darkest areas …. and then a glow from a distance, I saw through the shadows of the trees. As i approached initially fascinated me, and I could see the shapes, an interior startle me always enveloped most deeply, deeply penetrated pervading me …….. What I had in front of me was a cemetery from the indescribable beauty ….. in the twilight announcing the Night …. in the Silence Grove Beech ..A timeless appearance that really thrilled me, fully, relentlessly. I loved it . I loved him in a starrle twilight and the quiet from the ancient depths. I remembered that place and I remembered that i had always loved, in that way, in the Darkness descending to the valley …. deep … timeless. The monumental cemetery of Oropa has overwhelmed me in a Love of watery Nature, surely. Were a few moments of my earthly existence where I was overwhelmed by the Total timeless Feeling in whick eternity takes visible form . One of these moments was in the Lappish wilderness, in the blue light of the sun that illuminated the ice crystals, surrounded by an endless white desert of snow. These Are times, when the deep laceration that Beauty opens in my depth Ancient, opens my soul to the heights in a flash and swirling violently transports me elsewhere, making violently me expand. The Violence of the tear that emerges from the impact with the Ancient Beauty of Faceless, when I can contemplate on earth, puts me in connection with Interior Cosmos and establishes a contact from within. A Love giddy that dissolves and fixed at the same moment, the inexorability of what must come. In moments like these I do not love most the world, but I feel the Life that emerges from the depths as a violent stream which raises the atmospheric vision of Dasein. The laceration that this kind of love aroused creates, shows the meanings and connections to memory. They are the Great Loves of my Earthly life, these Moments of Beauty where I find the highest Life. The monumental cemetery of Oropa, at dusk, it appeared as a place known as the old seat of my inner Withdrawal, silent and gloomy, in sidereal quiet of eternal rest, topped by Power heights and Shout Animals. I must therefore devote to Monumental Cemetery of Oropa an article, aware that any word will not return the sense of what I experienced.
Formerly the cemetery was located directly under the floor of the ancient Temple of Oropa, at the center of Santuary. Nel 1830 was identified for a new location in the underground cemetery of the first square to the Sanctuary.
The project engineer was from Ernesto Camusso, which concerns the central complex to emicycle, was drawn up after conferred commissioned in 1871 and was designed to adapt to the ground to reduce soil movements, to facilitate the flow of water and to allow the view circostante.La of construction landscape consisted of a path arcaded gallery, supported on stone columns .All of the side galleries, at every archway, they could be arranged gravestones or monuments of private burials.
Additional space to be allocated for use by private individuals, with the possibility of laying of tombstones visible from the outside, were provided beneath the galleries, in special halls, also accessible from below internal path. The open field space at the center and circumscribed from the building, divided into sectors and degrading concentric, was primarily intended to common graves, but left the possibility of further private use of the surface for laying slabs or small memorials.
The Cemetery was completed and blessed in 1877.The original construction in old Romanesque “style”, is made mainly of cut stone to discharge its characteristics of monumentality and a longer duration warranty; the plaster is destined only to covered and with protected parts. The design of the complex is in an eclectic style, typical of the period; In 1888 began the construction of what was called the Cemetery Superior or Monumental Wood Cemetery .The new buildings went to have irregularly among the plants of the forest, above the planned cemetery by Camusso, spreading across an amphitheater slope that surrounds it, served by routes that followed the trend of the mountain.
